#821 Linda Staten joined River Market Antique’s family of vendors on May 1, 2016
Her business name is “True Story” and her fabulous space can be found on the 3rd floor, South East Corner.
We asked her what she specialized in and her answer was: I don’t specialize and I’m definitely not an expert. I research a lot, though. I choose objects that catch my eye or intrigue me and I prefer things that are more functional rather than ornamental. I really like objects that have a back story of some kind, or that lend themselves to an imaginary backstory.
We like to know what gets people into the business and her story was: My mom took me with her to flea markets when I was little and I loved looking at the old things. My sister also used to do antique shows. What really appealed to me was the storytelling element. Every object has a story and the older the object the more stories it has. When you buy an antique or collectible, you become part of it’s story, and it becomes part of yours. It’s all very pre-IKEA.
We found out that Linda’s “other” occupation is being a professional writer for 31 years and now she freelances. She also works part time in education at the Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead.
Her hobbies include reading, going to auctions, Asian Culture (especially K-pop music and dramas and Chinese Rock & Roll). She’s also a NetFlix Binger!
Please welcome our new vendor, #504 Nichole Purviance also known as “Red Bird Vintage Market”.
Her booth is located in the NE Corner of the Third Floor and she started with us on January 1, 2016
Nichole specializes in vintage glassware, specifically Pyrex. You know, the colorful stuff with the fun patterns!
Why is current Pyrex so boring?
As to why she got into this business, she says “I’ve always enjoyed antiquing. When I was a little girl, my mother used to take me with her when she went and I always had fun looking at all the interesting and unique pieces. I got into vintage glassware because I enjoy the variety. There’s lots of fun, colorful pieces out there. I personally collect certain patterns and decided it would be fun to share the other pieces I find with those that enjoy them as much as I do.
Other occupations? This is IT!
Nichole is also interested in interior design and keeping up with the latest trends in home remodeling and decor and trying her hand at a little “DIY”.
JoBeth Nastar & Sharon Schulze known as “It’s All Good” became a part of the River Market Antique Family in July of 2015.
You can find their space on our 3rd floor, ask for dealer #145’s space.
After many garage & estate sales, they decided to get into the actual fun part of business by becoming vendors.
When not antiquing, JoBeth likes to fish, do anything outdoors and read while Sharon’s other hobbies include scrapbooking and photography.
Sharon is retired from the record manager and archivist business and JoBeth is still active in website sales.
